Who Are We Looking For?
*Both Males & Females
*Ages 14 to 20
*Be a resident of Maricopa County
*No major criminal records
*Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
*Be able to attend weekly meetings
*Must be able to arrange transportation to the weekly meetings or events.
*Someone who can be a team player within a paramilitary organization.
*Someone who has the desire to learn, be dedicated and loyal to the Explorer program.

How do I become an Explorer?
First, we require you to attend three of our Thursday evening Post meetings (5 pm to 8pm) at our post location.
We work and operate out of the Enforcement Support Division office located at:
3325 W. Durango Street
Phoenix Arizona, 85009
You must attend 3 meetings in a row as a visitor to get to know some of the existing Explorers and to make sure this is what you want to do.
On the fourth consecutive meeting you will be given a Post application to fill out. During the first three meetings you will observe and participate in some of our scheduled activities.
Your application will be turned in on your fifth meeting. It must be read and signed by a parent or guardian if you are under 18 years of age.
On your fifth meeting, an oral board will be set up and conducted by the Explorer Advisors and Commanding Explorer. A background check will be conducted. This will consist of checking your school records and checking national, state, and local police records. Upon a favorable report you will be accepted.
Once accepted into the program, you will need a uniform. There are a couple of options. If you prefer to purchase your uniform items, we will be happy to provide you with local uniform shop information. We also have a closet of gently used uniforms of various sizes. We can't guarantee that they will be your size but you are welcome to look through it and see if anything can be of use to you.
There are no certain dates each month when we accept new applicants.
